Sharon’s House of Hope Foundation was founded in January 2023 with a clear purpose: to provide safe, structured, and spiritually grounded recovery housing in Maryland for women facing housing instability, addiction, mental illness, and justice system involvement. As a Christ-centered nonprofit, our mission is to empower women to rebuild their lives by offering supportive housing, peer mentoring, transportation, and community connection—all rooted in faith and love.
Our founder, Krysta Wever, launched Sharon’s House of Hope following the devastating loss of her mother, Sharon, to suicide in 2022.
Sharon had spent her life as a nurse caring for veterans and individuals in addiction treatment, always offering shelter, encouragement, and compassion to those in need—even while battling severe, treatment-resistant depression herself. Her passing became the catalyst for a mission that now saves and transforms lives in her honor.
Krysta, a Registered Nurse since 2006, envisioned a program that would carry forward her mother’s legacy of service and faith. What began as a single house of healing has quickly grown into a trusted recovery housing program for women across Harford County and beyond.

'Hope House' opened in August 2023; followed by 'Faith House' in June 2024. Both homes are in beautiful, recovery friendly Bel Air, MD.
Our homes are fully certified by MCORR and operate in alignment with nationally recognized NARR standards. We are also an approved provider for MDRN funding, reflecting our commitment to maintaining the highest levels of quality, safety, and accountability in recovery housing.
We provide Recovery Housing that Maryland women can depend on for lasting transformation through:
Recovery housing in Maryland is not just a stopgap—it’s a vital phase in sustaining long-term recovery. In Harford County alone, drug- and alcohol-related deaths rose by 145% between 2012 and 2021, and substance use disorders (SUD) and mental health issues were ranked the #1 concern in the 2021 Community Health Needs Assessment. Sharon’s House of Hope provides a vital solution for this public health crisis.
The structured environment, peer accountability, and Christian fellowship in our homes reduce relapse rates and help women reclaim their lives. Research confirms this model works—residents of sober living homes experience sustained improvement in sobriety, employment, and mental health outcomes up to 18 months after entry (Polcin et al., 2010).
