Sharon’s Legacy– The Heart Behind Our Women's Recovery House

Meet Sharon

The spirit of Sharon’s House of Hope Foundation was born from one extraordinary woman: Sharon.

Sharon was the kind of person who lit up every room she entered. Her smile was contagious, her laugh unforgettable, and her love for others truly unconditional. A nurturing mother, proud grandmother, and devoted friend, Sharon lived a life of deep generosity and selfless service. She opened her home—and her heart—to those in need, offering shelter, food, encouragement, and unwavering support.

Throughout her 25-year career as a Registered Nurse, Sharon worked closely with veterans and later with individuals in addiction recovery. She poured herself into her work, lifting up everyone around her with warmth and compassion. But behind her bright spirit, Sharon fought a silent and invisible battle with treatment-resistant depression for over two decades—a struggle few ever saw.

Despite the smiles, songs, and joy she gave the world, the weight of depression became too much to carry. In February 2022, Sharon tragically died by suicide.

A Legacy of Love and Hope

Sharon’s passing left an unfillable void in the hearts of her family and all who knew her—but her life continues to inspire hope. In January 2023, her daughter Krysta Wever founded Sharon’s House of Hope Foundation in her honor.

This organization was created to carry forward the legacy Sharon lived every day: giving without judgment, loving without condition, and helping others reclaim their dignity and purpose. The foundation reflects her heart, her faith, and her unwavering belief that people can heal when they are loved, supported, and seen.

Our Commitment to Mental Health and Suicide Prevention

At Sharon’s House of Hope, we take mental health seriously. Sharon’s story reminds us that many individuals struggling with addiction are also battling deep, unspoken pain. We are committed to:

  • Raising awareness about treatment-resistant depression and mental illness
  • Promoting suicide prevention and early intervention
  • Creating safe, supportive housing for women facing dual diagnoses of substance use and mental health disorders
  • Breaking the stigma around co-occurring conditions and seeking help

Through our faith-based women recovery housing in Maryland, we walk beside women who carry their own hidden wounds—offering them safety, healing, and hope rooted in the love of Christ.

Sharon’s Light Lives On

Sharon’s legacy lives in every woman who finds shelter in our homes, in every recovery milestone celebrated, and in every life transformed. Her story reminds us that healing isn’t linear—and that behind every brave smile, there may be a silent cry for help.

We honor Sharon by continuing her work: welcoming women in with open arms, walking with them in faith, and showing them that no one is beyond hope.
